About Us

What is Heng Suay?
Heng (兴) means lucky. Singaporeans often say it when good things happen. It is also commonly used in Chinese names to bring prosperity.
Suay (衰) means unlucky. Singaporeans will utter it when bad things happen. It is usually avoided as it has a negative annotation.
Putting them together means to try one's luck. We would like to embrace all the good things and the difficult ones while we run our merchandise store.

Why a kopitiam or coffee shop?
Singapore has a very diverse culture and as with a kopitiam, there is something for everyone. As artists and makers, we hope to create a safe space for other artists to express their love for Singapore culture too.

Booth Locations
While running a website is part of our core business, nothing can compare to outreaching at our booth at Curbside Crafters. Please refer to our home page for the latest booth dates and opening times.
